« Topological term in the Einstein equation and consequences for cosmology »

Quentin Vigneron
Univ. Nicolaus Copernicus (Torun, Pologne)

I will present a modification of General Relativity in which a term depending on the topology of the Universe is added in the Einstein equation. That term is a function of an additional non-dynamical reference connection directly related to topology. First, I will discuss the two main motivations for this modification: i) requiring the existence of the non-relativistic limit in any topology; ii) having a well-posed first order Lagrangian for gravitation, in any topology. Then, I will present some consequences of this modification. The main one is related to cosmology and implies that the expansion of the Universe does not depend anymore on the presence of spatial curvature, i.e. $Omega = 1$, for all $Omega_K$.
